The Importance of Art for Kids!

How many of our kids do something creative each week? When was the last time they’ve picked up a paintbrush?

For most of us, that answer is probably ‘I’m not sure.’

Other than dabbling in art class once a week at school, art has taken a backseat in this generation of children. But, I have found through teaching kids the last six years, that they desperately need and most importantly want it!

They may not even know it yet! But the joy that I see when kids start painting is unexplainable.

Sometimes, it’s just the huge smile on their face as they are mixing colors on a pallet. By the way, have you ever noticed how much fun it is to mix colors?! So much fun!

Kids love to do it and guess what grown-ups do too! If we could embrace our inner child a little bit more we’d be mixing all kinds of colors!  Just look at some of the smiling faces from some of my kid’s paint nights!

These are just some of the benefits that being creative does for children!

  • Improved Academic Performance
  • Motor Skills
  • Builds Confidence
  • Visual Learning Skills
  • Decision Making
  • Perseverance
  • Focus
  • Collaboration
  • Accountability
  • Creativity!
