Find Your People

Do you have your circle?

You will often hear me talk a lot about self-talk and how important it is how we treat ourselves. Speak kindly to yourself, the same way you would speak to others. Who we surround ourselves with is equally important! You are who you surround yourself with! Find your people. Make sure they lift you up and speak life into you!

I can’t stress enough how important it is to find and surround yourself with the right people. People that build you up. People that believe in you. People who support you and want you to succeed.

These are your true friends, and your support system. They are your circle.

I was fortunate enough three years ago to find this amazing group of women. All entrepreneurs. All dreamers. All of us seeking something new and walking out on a limb to get there. We were scared and nervous, but we were driven.

These ladies that I met all those years back are some of my best friends to this day. We talk to each other daily. I mean like probably 30 times a day kind of talking. Hahaha.

“Find People Who Understand Who You Are and What Your Dreams Are.” – Christie Hawkins

They understand me in a way that most people cannot. You have to find people who understand who you are and what your dreams are. You have to find the people who are willing to dream along with you. But it’s not just about dreaming. They are your sounding board. And a positive sounding board at that!

They want you to succeed as much as you do and do not compete with you. These types of friends do not tear you down but instead love and push you onto greater things because they believe in you!

These are the women that I come to with my big grand ideas.

Listen, I am a free spirit, a dreamer, a wildflower… I’m always looking for the next adventure and can’t wait to see what God has in store for me! But, I can get easily distracted.

I see all the shiny things and run after them. I will chase the butterflies. It’s all fun for a bit, but this amazing group of women pull me back down from the clouds and help me stay in my lane.

Take your dreams and your ideas to your people. They will help you make your decisions.

These women have helped define who I am to this day and reign me back in when I come up with some crazy idea that is off the charts and makes no sense. They’re the ones that love me enough to be honest with me and keep me on course.

We go through the depths of our business and our life together on a daily basis. We support each other no matter what. I know these girls are in my corner forever.

“The only thing that will change your life, change your business, change your relationship, is that you must raise your standards,” Tony says. Get rid of negative people who bring you down. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, lend you knowledge and help you learn from your mistakes. Raise your standards for your inner circle. – Tony Robbins

I can tell you one thing for sure. I would not be in the same place that I am today without the support system that I had surrounding me. It’s these women, my family, and my friends here at home. These are my people!

When I talk about surrounding yourself with people that build you up, this is what I’m talking about. You are who you surround yourself with.

So I want you to ask yourself a question right now. Who are you surrounding yourself with? Are they trustworthy? Do they believe in you? Do they believe in dreaming? Do they believe in the unseen possibilities? Do they want the best for you and you them?

If the answer is no– find your people. Seek them out. Find a group you can be a part of that makes you happy and fulfilled. That may even mean online. That is how my friendship began with this amazing group of women. We didn’t even meet in person until almost a year after we met! Now we try to meet up at least 2-3x a year!

Surround yourself with positivity. It can make or break you. The influences around you build you up or tear you down. And I’m not just talking about in business. I’m talking about life.

Who are your friends that lift you up no matter what? Who are those people that you can come to at the drop of a hat? Those are your people! Hold them close.

Make sure the people breathing life into you are giving your life joy, not sucking it from you!

You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” – Jim Rohn

I am so so thankful that God put these women in my life every single day! These friendships mean the world to me. We vacation together, we talk together, and we share in each other’s victories and sorrows. We are in it for the long haul and here to support each other and lift each other up. That’s what true friendship is!
