Last year, everything seemed like too much. I’m sure you’ve all had those times, too. Life’s responsibilities seem to pile up and it feels difficult to make any progress. As for time to reflect and renew? It doesn’t happen.
After feeling this way for quite a while, I turned to God. I had been praying all along, of course. But this time I heard him differently. He was guiding me toward living with greater intention. Instead of saying “yes” to everything and trying to be everything, I needed to slow down and think about what I really wanted to say yes to.
It can be so tempting to turn to God expecting an answer. We all get impatient (or is it just me) and want a solution to what’s troubling us. So often we find ourselves waiting for things to change or get better. For ourselves to change or get better at something. Instead, I’m trying to focus on being more content where God has placed me in life right now.
Be open to the surprises God has in store for you.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
It can be so tempting to dwell in the past or get lost in dreams for the future. Rather than dwelling on the past, try to focus on where you are.
One of my favorite things about how God works in my life is that he’s always surprising me. I don’t mean in the jump out from behind something and yell, “Surprise!” kind of way. More in the gently leading me toward something I hadn’t considered kind of way. Or the revealing something to me about myself that I didn’t see.
God is capable of doing immeasurably more than we can imagine. What if we trust in him and trust that we are exactly where we are supposed to be for the plans he has for us?
Inside Christie’s Inner Tribe, we’ve been exploring art journaling. It has been so amazing to see how the Tribe Sisters have responded to something so many of them had never tried.
I love my art journal and can already see how it will turn into almost a yearbook of memories for me. When I look back through the pages, I’ll be reminded of things I was feeling or that inspired me to create.
Trust That God knows Why.
Spring is almost here. It’s so close. Some parts of the country are still covered with snow, but in others trees have buds and there is a hint of spring in the air (or maybe just pollen). No matter where you live, you’ll start seeing signs of new beginnings and new life all around you. Be inspired by that.
Be open to how God wants you to bloom. Be open to the new beginnings he has planned for you. And be open to the surprise!
Realize that God’s will for us has more to do with why than with who or what.
Let your why be God’s why in your life. Let it encourage you as you bloom right where you are. To bloom where you are planted!
Know that you are enough.
It’s those moments that show us who we are and what truly matters to us. And sometimes when I’m journaling, if I’m paying attention, I can see God’s hand in what I create. Surprise!
If we listen to the world around us, it can be so easy to believe we are not enough. Remind yourself that this is the voice of the enemy.
You are enough. Just as you are. God knows your heart and your mind. God knows what is best for you.
Turn to God in prayer and thanksgiving, knowing He will lead you where you need to be.
And then this spring, as you wonder at the beauty all around you, remember this is your time to bloom, too. Right where you are planted.
