So many women walk into painting already convinced they aren’t creative. They’ll say things like “I’m not artistic.” Or, “I could never do that.” Or, “I’m probably going to mess it up.”

And honestly? I think a lot of women stopped creating a long time ago because they became afraid of not being perfect.

But one of the most beautiful things I’ve watched over the years inside Tribe and with my other students is seeing what happens when women keep showing up anyway. Not because every painting turns out perfectly… But because something begins to change in them when they create consistently.

Confidence Comes From Showing Up, Not Getting It Perfect

One of the biggest mindset shifts an artist can make is realizing that the goal isn’t to create a perfect painting every time. The goal is to keep showing up.

So many people think talented artists magically create beautiful work effortlessly… but the truth is, confidence is built through repetition. Every unfinished painting… Every messy canvas… Every time you sit down to paint instead of giving up… You are strengthening your creativity.

That’s something we talk about often inside Tribe because so many women are carrying pressure to “get it right” instead of allowing themselves to simply enjoy creating again.

A few of my favorite reminders lately have been:

• I do not need to create a perfect painting to call myself an artist.
• Consistency matters more than perfection.
• My creativity strengthens every time I show up.
• Confidence is built through practice, not perfection.
• I release the pressure to “get it right” and choose to enjoy the process.

Art isn’t about proving yourself. It’s about becoming.

Becoming the Kind of Woman Who Creates Again

Something really special starts happening when women consistently make space for creativity. They begin trusting themselves more. They stop apologizing for taking time for themselves. They start trying things they once believed they “weren’t capable of.”

And slowly… painting becomes about more than painting. It becomes confidence, joy, rest, courage, and self-expression.

Inside Tribe, I’ve watched women who once felt intimidated to even pick up a brush create paintings they never imagined possible. Not because they suddenly became perfect artists overnight… But because they kept showing up.

There’s something powerful about seeing your own growth right in front of you.

Creativity Gives Us Space to Breathe Again

One thing I love so much about painting is that it teaches you to slow down. To notice light. To notice color. To notice beauty again.

And honestly, I think so many of us need more of that.

Lately, I’ve been especially inspired by the way artists like Monet captured feeling and atmosphere instead of chasing perfection. There’s something so freeing about letting brush strokes stay loose, allowing color to overlap, and focusing more on movement and light than tiny details.

A lot of that inspiration found its way into some of the paintings we worked on recently in Tribe, including our own take on Water Lilies by Monet where we focused on how quickly changing light can completely shift the mood of a scene.

I think one of the biggest shifts that happens as an artist is when you stop trying to perfectly copy what’s in front of you and start learning how to really see it instead.

And honestly? That changes everything.

Community Changes Everything

And maybe one of the most unexpected gifts of creativity is the community that forms through it.

Over the years, Tribe has become so much more than painting tutorials.

It’s become a place where women encourage each other, celebrate each other’s progress, laugh together, pray for each other, and remind one another that creativity still matters.

There’s something incredibly special about watching women who once doubted themselves begin saying: “Look what I painted.” Not because it’s flawless… But because they’re proud of themselves for trying.

And I think that’s what creativity does at its best. It reminds us that we are still growing. Still learning. Still becoming.
